Bred on the East Coast of China, Luteum Jellyfish (Rhopilema esculentum) are usually despatched in large quantities into the ocean in order to increase stocks within their natural habitat; however they can also be kept as pets.
Unlike Moon or Blue Blubber Jellyfish, Luteum Jellyfish have a sting, and so must be handled with care when moving from one tank to another – and as a result, they are also considered a species which requires expert attention.
Brightly coloured, with short branched orange tentacles almost representing tree roots, and a rounded, scalloped head; Luteum Jellyfish really are some of the most striking pets you can own.
